Following on from the idea of adding subscription-style or rolling purchases for consumables (e.g. fluids, tapes, etc.), I’ve looked into what’s currently possible within GoB2B.
There was a similar feature request submitted to their portal about a year ago (“Subscription based purchasing”). The GoB2B admin response confirmed it would be a significant development project, as their system isn’t designed to handle recurring payments, stored balances, or automatic reorders. Essentially, they’d need to rebuild how customer accounts, stock, and payments interact — which is why it never progressed.
In short:
True subscription functionality isn’t currently supported.
It would require bespoke development and likely won’t be prioritised by GoB2B.
However, there are a few alternative routes we could explore:
Reorder reminder automation – periodic email prompts (“It’s been 30 days since your last order of smoke fluid”) via Mailchimp or a simple CRM link.
“Repeat Last Order” button – lets users quickly re-add previous items to the basket (potentially achievable within GoB2B - and is kindof there already)
Manual scheduled reorders – handled operationally for key accounts that want regular shipments.
These options would deliver the same end goal (repeat business and convenience) without needing major site redevelopment.
