The surcharging of Credit Cards in general was outlawed in 2018 but the regulations contain an exemption for commercial cards. As you are no doubt aware commercial cards also attract higher fees because the recovery risk is higher with limited companies compared to individuals. Many wholesalers and distributors operate on tight margins which means that accepting credit cards erodes their margin too much.
It would be technically possible to apply a surcharge to commercial credit cards which might make adoption of credit cards in the checkout, balance payment and pay by link much more acceptable.
We acknowledge that surcharging would not suit all businesses but will push for this feature to be added to GOb2bPay powered by ClearAccept if there is enough demand.
ClearAccept Ltd t/a Gob2bPay is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under the Payment Service Regulations 2017 (FRN 926372) for the provision of payment services.
